About this Query

This query is designed to provide you a list of food processors producing wastes that you specified. There are totally seven types of food processing waste as the following:

  • Bakery
  • Brewery
  • Dairy
  • Fruit
  • Meat
  • Mixes
  • Veg

Example

In this example, suppose we want to find a list of food processors that produce prudcts such as yogurt, ice cream, cheese, etc. Accordingly, a variety of dairy wastes are also generated and they might include: whey, spoiled yogurt, cheese, and ice cream, etc. These dairy wastes are considered the best feedstock to digesters because they contain high percentage of volatile solids which can be converted into biogas.

Step 1: Check on or off the boxes in front of the layers so that "CAFO Dairy ", "CAFO Lables", "Food Processors ", "FP Lables", and "County" are selected. You can select more layers if you want. However, the map will be cleaner and easier to read by checking off those unnecessary layers. Be sure to press "Apply" afterward to make the changes effective.

Step 2: Enter "dairy" in the text box after "Type:".

Step 3: Press the "Query" button to run it. The map will be updated so that all food processors that produce dairy waste are shown at the center of the map. In this case, because these food processors are distributed everywhere in the state, the extent of map doesn't change much. A table of these food processors is also generated and displayed under the map.

Step 4: Right click anwhere in the area that displays the querying results and then select "Export to Microsoft Excel". Then a Excel windows will pop up and the querying results will be retrieved and displayed as a Excel sheet (See the following two images).

This only applies to Windows XP users. If you are using different operating system, you might just hilight the table and then copy-paste to Excel or Word.
