About this Query

This query will help you find those active landfills in each county. The querying results will show the following information about those landfills: name, address, city and county where they are located, zip and region.

Be sure to enter the correct county name. It can be either upper case or lower case as long as the spelling is correct. If you are don't know or not sure about the exact spelling of a county that you are interested, you can search it in the " Further Information " section where a complete list of all counties in New York State is presented.

In this example, suppose we want to find all of those active landfills that are located within Sullivan County. The general procedures are as following:

Step 1: Check on or off the boxes in front of the layers so that only "Food Processors ", "FP Lables", "Active Landfills" and "County" are selected. You can select more layers if you want. However, the map will be cleaner and easier to read by checking off those unnecessary layers. Be sure to press "Apply" afterward to make the changes effective.

Step 2: Enter "sullivan" in the text box in front of the "Query" button. Be sure to enter the county name correctly.

Step 3: After entering the county name, press the "Query" button to run it. The map will be updated so that all landfills that are located in Sullivan County will be shown at the center of the map. In this example, there is only one landfill in this county. The selected landfill is highlighted in red color. A table of the landfill isl also generated and displayed under the map. If the querying result is displayed as "No records" under the map, that means no landfills are located in the specified county.

There are 26 active land fills in New York State. Below is a complete list of all 62 counties in the State.
